[SunHELP] Solaris 8 installation problems

First, thanks for your replies. Secondly, I don't think the install/boot
server needs to be of the same architecture. However, if you don't install a
Sun from a Sun, you are going to be faced with ALOT of work, considering you
don't have use of the install/configuration scripts. Hey, if anyone ever
wants to install Sun over the network from a Non-sun machine, just call me!

Yes, nfsd is running, and registered with RPC, as well as mountd. The root
partition mounts fine, and I can browse it via the sun client. As far as the
install share, I haven't tested that. I can check monday.

I think if there was away to eliminate the "Address mask request", things
might be going great. I want to believe there is an alternative to this
request, like putting the netmask in /etc/netmaks/, or /netmasks.
Unfortunately, I haven't found much documentation on that. However, I think
routers are responsible for replying to AMR's.

Like I said , I was using a tool called "sing". It's basically a toolbox of
different ICMP services, and you can perform ECHO replies. That actually
satisfied the Address Mask Request from the sun client, but it somehow got
the subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. Maybe "sing" was taking the netmask from my
127.0.0.1 interface, but I even fudged the interface to have a netmask of
255.255.255.0, replied again, and the sun client still got 255.0.0.0 as a
subnet mask, ARGGGG :)
