But the original post is talking about root's login shell... I believe your
instructions are valid for a non-root user, but not root!

Hi,
1) Fisrt edit /etc/passwd and put users shell as ksh.(/usr/bin/ksh)
2) Then create a .profile in the user's home directory.
Inside a .profile insert following line.
ENV=(users home directory)/.kshrc
Eg: for user1
ENV=/export/home/user1/.kshrc
3) Also create a .kshrc in the user's home directory

Put all enviroment variables in .kshrc file
