If u have NIS running in yr network then specify
Hosts: file dns nis

or else map the nameserver to hostname in the hosts file.

Regards,

Hi

What happens when you run nslookup?

Does it see the server and can you lookup by simple name and FQDN?

Peter

I am tearing my hair out on this one, and I don't have that much to pull
out!

Running Sparcstation 10, Solaris 7 , I can ping by ip# both internally and
externally
I have run Solaris 8 intel version with the same configuration on the same
network with no problems.
Linux PC's don't have proble either.
