[SunHELP] How to get a "recue" encapsulated bootdisk ?

I wondered if there was  any way to get a "rescue" encapsulated bootdisk.

Suppose I plan to apply some patches and I want to keep a rescue disk 
in  case the procedure goes wrong.

I could make a mirror for rootdisk, detach every plex on this disk, and
boot on this mirror, but I suppose the state of theses volumes will be
STALE,
making it unable to boot, right ?

Is there another possibility ?
