Will, the client talking to the server shows a timeout. The server itself is syncing nicely with its external source. And, again, the client can also sync with the external source. I asked my network eng. to make certain port 123tcp/udp was open and he confirmed it was.
Nothing being blocked with tcp wrappers, 123 is in /etc/services.
Steve, you suggested having the server broadcast, but actually I would rather not broadcast and have direct contact instead...
----
I take it the NTP daemon is actually running? What does...
# ntpq -p
... return? Are you getting anything in any logs that might point you in the
right direction? Is there an appropriate entry in /etc/services ? Is the
machine running any sort of firewall? Or could hosts.allow/deny be blocking
it?
Just some initial thoughts. I haven't got round to setting up NTP so
apologies if this is obvious stuff you've already checked. :)
Will.
