There are also 3 host files in /etc/net/ticlts, /etc/net/ticots, and
/etc/net/ticotsord which contain the hostname.

Try this:
1. Edit /etc/hosts file an ensure correct IP address to hostname mapping.
2. Ensure that /etc/hostname.hme0 has the desired hostname.
3. Execute: uname -S hostname
4. Reboot.
This works every time for me, be sure that hostname.hme0 and the output of
uname match.
