I'm not sure on that, but you should also check out xanim:

It supports several codecs that ShowMeTV does not and allows for window
scaling.  The UI is a bit rough but functional.

A footnote: ShowMeTV really _should_ support arbitrary window scaling as
it makes extensive use of XIL.  If anyone from Sun is listening, codec
plugin support would also be very nice.
