Another reason I can think of for hardware based terminal servers.....

I use Linux boxen with Digi cards (not my choice). Every time the dam OS goes
down it sends a break to the console ports, causing all our machines to stop
and puke (not good in a production environment). Linux boxen do need the
occational bootage (sorry evangelists). Hardware solutions are permanent.

btw.. the break problem is a Digi issue (others do it too). There are supposed
patches from Sun for the issue, but we haven't got them to work yet.
