It came from a RAID array that was supposedly never used.

Really?  I've never had one fail on me.  Of all my SPARCstations, Seagates fail on me quite frequently,
and Micropolis drives keep on going - I've had some going for like a year at a time without being
switched off (even if the machine reboots).

It only occurs while trying to netboot the install part of Solaris 8.  Under Solaris 7, the drive
works fine, boots fine, installs fine, etc.

Yeah, I just realized that.  After waiting 2 hours to format the damn thing.

Are there any real advantages to running Solaris 8?  Especially with only 64MB of RAM?
I'd like to go to 128MB eventually, 256 if possible, but that won't happen for
a while because of my sticky financial situation.
