[SunHELP] SS2: "FAILURE: TOD"

I recently acquired a SparcStation 2. It has no hard drive nor OS yet.
I've attempted to boot it up with a serial console attached, but this
is all the output I get:

	WARNING: Unable to determine keyboard type           
		FAILURE: TOD (f20007f8) Bit Failure, Exp = 000000ff, Obs = 000000f?

After that, the machine appears to hang. I have not been able to make
it respond to a BREAK.

Do I need to replace the NVRAM chip, or is something more sinister
occuring?
