[SunHELP] syslogd dies

I have recently set up a play box.

but syslog keeps diing sometimes when I restart I get;

bilbo # /usr/sbin/syslogd
*** 444: /etc ***
bilbo # alloc_stacks: Error 0

I have an old sparcserver 5 to play with, all patches applied.

The few times it does seem to run it does not write to /var/adm/messages etc
all.

I have never seen this before.....

Any help regarding this appreciated.
