[SunHELP] make a backupcopy?

Geez.. I hate to admit, but I need some help on this.
How on earth do I easily make a copy of a DAT-tape?
I tried DD'ing to a file and DD it over to another tape, but without
success. Anyone have a clue?
There may be multiple files on the tapes, and it could be either TAR or
CPIO format on these... (I'd much rather take a simple whole-tape copy
of it)
