I don't think it is a permission problem. Don't know NIS+, but I think it
works
just like NIS did. A user is not listed in the "primary group" because it
is
the user primary group. It is shown in the password listing.
Example:
Users primary group is 100 (user)
Users secondary group is 200 (engr)
The users primary group is defined in the password database and does
not
need to be redefined in the group database.
smith:x:1001:100:John Smith:/export/home/smith:/bin/ksh
The users secondary group is defined in the group database. It is
not
defined in the password database.
engr::200:smith,jones
If this is not correct, would someone please correct me.

Hello Mei,
I don't think this is due to permission restriction. Maybe you can list the
primary group members by the following command:
%nisgrep 'gid=<primary groupid>' passwd.org_dir|cut -d: -f1
Best Regards.

Subject: [SunHELP] nisgrep user name-help!
Hello,
Does anyone know how to view UNIX members in a group in NIS+ table? I can
view all
groups using niscat group.org_dir but if a member belongs to a primary group
(its
default group), the name is not listed. However, the member name is listed
if he/she
belongs to a secondary group. I used nisgrep command to view the individual
group.
How can I view UNIX members in their primary groups? Is this due to
permission
restriction? Please help!
Thanks in advance!
Mei
