This feature is available in Solaris 2.6 since the 105181-23 kernel patch.
The kernel will also try to reboot cleanly instead of panicing.

(from 105181-23)

4269582 Kernel (and OBP) handling of Ecache data and Tag parity errors
should be enhanced
4320394 scrubbing the cache may improve the reliability of some systems

It seems SUN has released a newer version of the Ultra II with ECC cache,
which
avoids EDP events. They offered us to replace the 18 Ultra II CPUs in our
E6500 with
this new model, after we meet 6 EDP events in only one year.

Maybe Michael could ask SUN technical support to do the same, as this is
clearly
a design flaw.

There's a minor design flaw in the UltraII CPU. They used parity
instead of
ECC memory in the cache. While this detects errors it can't fix them
so the
system panics. The workaround is a cache scrubber routine which in
effect
flushes the cache on a regular basis and causes it to be refreshed.
This
reduces the frequency of errors and therefore crashes.

Please tell me, what is the 'scrubber patch'.
