well i am sure i'm missing something really dumb, but the same thing
keeps happening to me each time i install solaris 8 on my ss5. after
renaming a bunch of init scripts, i reboot, and get the following
errors:
configuring IPv4 interfaces: le0
Hostname: bacall
/sbin/rcS: /dev/null: cannot create
The /usr/ file system (/dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s6) is being checked.
Can't open /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s6
[...warnings about fscking the partition, complaints about not being
able to create other device nodes, etc]
it then freezes at:
/sbin/rcS: /dev/console: cannot open
resuming system initialization
i know that's not a lot to go on, but any guesses as to where things are
going wrong? i can boot in single user mode and edit files on the root
partition (or other partitions) if i can figure out what needs to be
changed....
in /etc/rcS.d/ (i changed a couple from before):
K33audit S33keymap.sh k36sendmail
K35volmgt
K36utmpd k39lp
K40cron S40standardmounts.sh k39spc
K40syslog S42coreadm k40nscd
K41rpc S50devfsadm k41autofs

README k07snmpdx s10initpcmcia
S15initpcihpc k10dtlogin s41cachefs.root
S30network.sh k28nfs.server s35cacheos.sh

i can try to post any other information i have available.
