Question:
>Does anyone know of a good tool to help keep track of system
>configuration (i.e software installed,, hardware installed,).
>Sun's CST tool looked to be a good choice except it does'nt work with
>Solaris > 6. Also, I don't really need all the bells and whistle's it
>appears to have.
Summary: (With thanks to those who provided input)
SUN Explorer : Bertrand HUTIN, Steve Maher, Jed Dobsen, Pierre Demuynck
Syssumm ( http://syssumm.sourceforge.net/ ): Will Robinson, Bill Bendito
Tim Evans Asked "What makes you say this? I'm running it here on Solaris 8,
with no problems." refereing to my beleif that Sun's CST does'nt run on
Solaris versions above 2.6. Which is what was on
http://sunsolve2.Sun.COM/sunsolve/cst/cst-future.html. This page also
indicates that the functionality will be built into future versions of
SunMC, but a) it was'nt free (except for a one system trial) and b) last I
saw the functionality was'nt included yet. But apperntly I may have been
looking in the wrong place?
Others gave tips as to writing a script, which I could do, but why reinvent
the wheel.
Thanks to all who provided input. If I get any late entries I will be sure
to repost an Updated summary.
