can someone explain to me what the difference is
between 'shutdown' and 'init <n>' for Solaris 2.6 is.
I've read the man pages for both, and think I have the
basics as to what the difference is - just wanted to see
if someone could elaborate. I've always used init and some
other staff use shutdown.
reason is... we had an Oracle test server that was having shared memory
problems. a shutdown and boot didn't seem to clean it up, but an
init 6 did. does 'init <n>' actually perform additional tasks
over and above 'shutdown -i <n>'?
Thoughts and ideas???
