As far as I know the only two options are the approved mounting
bracket that blocks one or two of the PCI slots; or attempting
to use the PCCARD bay.  In the latter case, I would tend to be
a bit paranoid about heat dissipation.

Another safe alternative would be to install a supported SCSI
card and use an external drive enclosure...

It also appears that most USB cards are supported, at least under
Solaris 8; but I don't know whether it supports USB hard drives.
Since USB hub cards are cheap (as low as $15), and most of the USB
drive enclosures appear to be intended for EIDE/ATAPI drives, this
could be the least expensive and most flexible solution; if it is
supported.
