The main change I've noticed is the memory manager. It is a lot easier to
see the difference between file system paging and program paging. I've been
told that memory management is supposed to be in general better as well.
There is also an option to apply upgrades and patches (I think patches) to a
separate partition from your main boot partition.
My position has been to wait for the software vendor to have us start using
Solaris 8. So far none have -- both our main servers are at Sol 6. It seems
that everyone stayed at 6 when 7 came out and are now moving to 8.
