Sensitivity: Confidential
Using xview, place in your startup files somewhere or on an alias for easy
access:
xv -root imagefilename -quit
XV will then place the image on your root shell and exit. It understands
many popular file formats in COLOR.
for complete docs laid out like a website, in a tar.gz
file go to: http://www.trilon.com/xv/ <http://www.trilon.com/xv/>
Im using it right now with a JPEG and it works great.

xsetroot is conventional.
If you want pictures on your background then various things available on the
net do it better - xloadimage is good.
