[Sunhelp] Hostid on SPARC

the domainname command sets the NIS domainname
echo "my.domain.com" > /etc/defaultdomain
if you are trying to set the DNS domain, try this:
echo "domain xyz.domain.com" >> /etc/resolv.conf
