[Sunhelp] why,i see syslog messages on the display(work space) instead of console

Hi there!
A strange thing is happening with one our sprac-20 station at work.
wheter i rsh,rlogin,telnet as root/admin to this station all syslog messages 
are
echoed onto the display(cde -wm) instead of on the console.
So if i edit a file in xemacs and root rsh to the station,login messages/su 
messages
are echoed on the work-space -where the focus is on(xemcas in this example)
as far as i know syslogd work fine and compared the syslog.conf with other 
stations and it
looks fine too.
What is hte problem ?
