Dear Friends.

I would be thankful to you if any one guide on the followings.

DETAILED INFORMATIONS FOR YOU :

OS: Solaris 2.6 (5/98 release, with recommended & Y2k patches installed on
it, on a UE-250 server )
Wrapper Ver. 7.6
Compiled with default settings using gcc .
copied tcpd to /usr/sbin & moved in.ftpd,in.telnetd & fingerd to a
newly created directory /test/tcpd
created /etc/hosts.allow & hosts.deny : assume hosts.allow has ALL: ALL
entries & hosts.deny is an empty file .

Made necessary modifications to /etc/inetd.conf & syslog.conf as follows :
ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd
/test/tcpd/in.ftpd -dl
telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd
/test/tcpd/in.telnetd
finger stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/tcpd
/test/tcpd/in.fingerd

syslog.conf :
daemon.info /var/log/ftplog
auth.info /var/log/authlog

In log files , there is no difference has been observed before & after
using tcpd. following are from log files before & after using tcpd from
ftplog & authlog. For telnet session it doesnot track even telnetd(pid)
like ftpd in log files . To keep track of users from a NT PC , I installed
ident services on NT & compiled with rfc931 time=60 , but still there is no
change in log files.

Feb 3 13:06:51 testrun1 login: ROOT LOGIN /dev/pts/3 FROM
iscdbsv.cablecom.ch ( for telnet services )
Feb 3 13:11:39 testrun1 login: ROOT LOGIN /dev/pts/3 FROM
iscdbsv.cablecom.ch
Feb 3 13:17:24 testrun1 ftpd[1175]: FTPD: connection from
iscdbsv.cablecom.ch at Thu Feb 3 13:17:24 2000

Kindly guide me asap.

Thanks & Regards.
Mr.Srikanta
