To run RAID 5? I would recommend you to do get a piece of hardware
that can take care of it, software RAID 5 is quite bad in terms of
performance.
So software RAID 5 is mainly an option if you dont need very good
performance.
Solaris is boundled with Solstice DiskSuite, which support RAID 5.
Its boundled with Solaris on the CD labeled "Easy Access", unless
you have Sol 8, then you have it in a directory called EA on cd #2.
As for documention i'd recommend docs.sun.com(as usuall):
For Disksuite 4.2:
http://docs.sun.com:80/ab2/coll.260.1/@Ab2CollView?Ab2Lang=C&Ab2Enc=iso-8859-1
And Disksuite 4.2.1 (Solaris 8):
http://docs.sun.com:80/ab2/coll.260.2/@Ab2CollView?Ab2Lang=C&Ab2Enc=iso-8859-1
Sun Educational Services has a very good Disksuite course btw.
As for SDS 4.2 there are a patch you might want as well -> 106627.
