Active termination is "better". The SCSI FAQ has lots of decent information
on this, check out http://www.faqs.org/faqs/scsi-faq/part1/. If you do a
search for "QUESTION: What is FPT (Termination)?" and read the next 3 or so
questions and answers, that might help a bit.
