I have not been in a support role for many years
but I can try to help you anyway.
The number one instruction this person should follow
is the upgrade documentation. This would most likely
be 805-0936-13. I suspect he only purchased a module
and has no "upgrade" documentation.
The Ultra 2 system board must be jumpered for a clock
divide ration of 3:1 when 300MHz modules are installed.
The 200MHz module runs at 2:1. Move J2301 from 2-3 to
1-2.
The system board must be >/= 501-3132-07. The upgrade
should have included a replacement system board.
Open Boot PROM 3.7 version 0 or greater is required.
System boards 501-3132-07 thru 501-3132-12 require a
terminator board if only one 300MHz module is installed.
The upgrade should have included a terminator.
