Try ' boot disk'. If it does not work, boot thru Solaris 2.5.1 CD in =
single user mode and try to mount the first hard disk using following =
command.

Give following command at the ok> prompt :

ok> boot cdrom -sw

Mount the hard disk=20

# mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt    ( value of t may be different =
depending on the SCSI ID of the root disk)

Go to /mnt and see if Solaris is installed or not. If Solaris files are =
there unmount the disk by giving following command:

# umount /mnt

go to /usr/platform/sun4u/lib/fs/ufs ( I am assuming it be an Ultra =
Sparc CPU machine) by giving the command:

# cd /usr/platform/sun4u/lib/ufs=20

Run Installboot on the root disk partition.

# installboot bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 ( Value of t is the value of =
the SCSI ID of the root disk).

# halt=20

Now reboot the system.

Even if does not work, then probably you will have to load it again.

Subject: [Sunhelp] Can't open boot device?????? (Help)

Hi,=20
I'm a new user of SUN-machine, and recently I have had a problem on a =
Solaris 2.5.1 system. After install the 2.5.1 v. in a Netra-4000, I'm =
getting the following message:=20

                            "I can't open boot device"=20

and I don't know what can I do, do you know what steps (step by step, =
because I'm a bit new with this tecnology) do I need to accomplish =
this???=20
    When I write:  <PRINTENV >, I have next:=20

    variable name                            value                       =
         default value=20
        ....=20
        Boot                                          disk               =
                   disk diskbrd diskisp dis ..=20
        ...=20

Question: Do I have to have the same value in both places (in value and =
default value), Do I have to change the value?? if is true How???????=20

Thanks for any advice.=20
(sorry for my english)=20
