I know you can do this with xv. however you need a good installation of 
ghostscript. I have one that works built for solaris 2.6 available on
ftp.double-barrel.be:/pub/Solaris/Sparc/gs-5.10-solaris-2.6.tar.Z if you need a 
working version of gs feel free to download and unpack and untar in /opt/gs
