This is the offical response from our Sun Sales Rep regarding GBIC
failures...

Larry is correct.  We discovered that over time the GBICs used for
our A5x00 arrays had higher than acceptable rates of failure.  We changed 
suppliers and have a program in place to replace all the old GBICs.  
Because of the unexpected load on our new supplier we were experiencing 
some supply constraint.  We were replacing GBICs upon failure but are 
now proactively replacing them.  All new systems are shipped with the
new GBICs.

Sempra has A5x00 on the Phoenix, GRID, SAP, and SFG projects.  SunService
has either audited or is planning an audit of all those projects.

We apologize for the disruption and confusion this caused.  We are committed
to fix this situation and maintain the quality and availability we are 
known for!
