I suggest you to read :

- "Managing NFS and NIS" - author Hall Stern (O'REILLY, ISBN 0-937175-75-7).
- "Solaris Naming Administration Guide". This is part of Sun Solaris 
manuals(Sun Microsistems Part No. 802-5752-10 as for Solaris 2.6).
