Some 3 chip SIMMs have problems.  Some don't.  Sun actually shipped 3 chip
SIMMs for quite some time (70ns 4MB), barcode and all.  I've had no
problem using high-quality 3 chip SIMMs in Sparc 1+'s and 2's.
