Subject: [Sunhelp] Default router
How can one change the defaultrouter file in Solaris
and have the changes take effect immediately?

Hi Paul,
To change the default route on the fly, use the "route" command which
changes the kernel routing table.
This is how the default route is set in one of the /etc/rc* files (ie. by
reading /etc/defaultrouter)
as root:"route add default X.X.X.X" where X.X.X.X is the new router IP
Address
You can check this afterwards by using "netstat -r" which will show you the
kernel routing table (note this can take some time to produce output, but be
patient!)
Hope this makes sense to you.
