Hello,

I've got a strange one here. Our E4000 has a number of NFS filesystems that get
exported to a variety of Sun and NT
boxes, but we're having some strange problems.

Problem 1.
NT box mounting filesystem. An NT box here mounts a filesystem containing five
directories. The problem is that
after about two weeks of operation we have problems with a subdirectory called
'depart'. The NT box can see it,
(get a listing in Explorer), but can't read or write to anything in the
directory. The only solution appears to be to
rename 'depart' to something else, create a new 'depart' with the same
ownerships and permissions, and copy
the contents of the old 'depart' to the new one. Wierd or what!

Problem 2. (much more serious)
This E4000 appears to 'expire' exports at daily intervals. We have a batch job
that cron-runs early in the morning
that unshares a few specific directories and then later does a shareall, but
this is all the jobs that I can find that would
effect the NFS exports. The problem appears to be that the E4000 appears to
unshare more directories that are
specified (maybe even all of them?!) and then doesn't re-share them. I've had
to put in a cron job to specifically
share the ones that it seems to take a dislike to.

Anyone else had similar problems, or is it just my rotten luck? :-(

Bob Cross, Systems Programmer (and seriously considering a career change).

[Apologies for the lengthy legal rubbish that follows - not my idea, and I have
no control over it!]
