Yeah, thet did a lot better recently, the kernel that shipped with 
Yellow Dog 2.3 worker despite being a 2.4 one - so please forget 
anything I said about 2.4 kernels - their problems seem to be sorted 
out now.

have fun anyway ( despide my prejudices )
