Hi All,

I know there were a bunch of us whom recently bought the P1000G's that were
on eBay. Anyway. I finally found a reasonably practical way to install
drivers and things to make the box useful.

First, I went to Wal*Mart (yes Wal*Mart!!) and bought a Belkin direct
connect parallel cable D-25 M to D-25 M (there is no externally available
serial port so this was the only way)

Second, went into bios, turned on bi-directional parallel port and enabled
PCIC in the PCMCIA section.

made a direct cable connection (DCC) from the P1000G to my Toshiba laptop.
Two things here that the docs don't tell you. First you must enable file
sharing, second you must have a share set up, third, you must have NetBEUI
protocol installed (YUCK!!)

Made the connection, shared my CD-ROM, (win 95 CD in CD-ROM drive) set
P1000G as client, and Toshiba as host.

After much cursing and throwing of things it worked.

now after you have the connection working run the add new hardware wizard.
Let it search the box. it will find the new PCIC controller. when it asks
for the windows 95 CD point it to the network share. it will do the right
thing.

Now you have a working PCMCIA controller.

I would now suggest you copy all driver files you think you will need for
any network or other PCMCIA cards you wanna use.

I have both a Linksys net card and an Adaptec 1460D SCSI conrtroller
working!

Hope this helps some of you. E-mail me directly if you need some help with
this.

Cheers,

Mike N
