Brand new, optimal battery life is about one hour to one and a half hours...

There was an optional extended life battery to take it to three+ hours,
IIRC.

Brand new batteries are available from tadpole, price is about $150 I think.

There are external battery packs available if you really need extended
battery operation, but thye can get pricey (see places like www.igo.com)

just got a sparcbook3xp and the battery life is horrid.
what kind of life can i expect out of a healthy system?
where do i go for replacement batteries for this system?
