No, it is for sure hardware related, as I tend to be hard on keyboards. :)
Also, if I hold down a key and notice that the stroke didn't show it will
eventually show up.  It's as if the keyboard scanner doesn't always scan.

Which one? kbconfig? Or do you mean the CDE style manager?
