[SPARCbook] date won't accept 00 for year 2000

How can I get my SunOS Release 4.1.3 (SPARCBOOK_A.2.3) to respond to =
date in the following format so I can enter the year 2000?

date [[mmdd]hhmm[[cc]yy][.ss]]

All I've been able to do so far is get to the year 1999...
