Pressing Pause-A or Pause-R before it gets to 001 and hangs has no effect as well
The main screen stays dark - no splash screen, no display of any sort whatsoever.
The small status display works, however, and I can see the "battery charge" indication
(and I've tried with the battery in, and out, and fully charged 100% and fully discharged 00%)
After I remove the battery and AC power, and then either put a battery in, connect AC or both,
I get the behavior I mentioned before -
The status display shows "0D0" for less than a second, then
I can hear the hard disk spin up when the LCD status displays 007 (I've also tried with the HDD out)
then it hangs forever with the status display showing 001.
What is the normal sequence of digits in the status display during boot?
Is 001 some sort of diagnostic indicator that should tell me what's failed?
