Which is an amusing association, since ex/vi were written by Bill Joy 
and Check Haley at Berkeley. :D

But yes, it (including derivatives) may be the most heavily used 
end-user part of BSD, since it was so frequently imported as part of the 
"BSD enhancements" of various flavors of AT&T-licensed UNIX. And that 
early ubiquity meant some derivative or emulation was included in just 
about every free UNIX clone out there.
