The best thing about modern emacs is the incredibly sophisticated ex/vi 
emulator, "evil-mode."

Emacs always had every kind of useful extension and parser and debugger 
integration.  Now it finally has a good editor, too.

"evil-mode" does everything vim does, and then some more.
