  FCAL is one possible configuration (Arbitrated Loop) of FibreChannel.
FibreChannel as a storage interconnect is a transport mechanism for the
SCSI protocol.

  ...and to completely break your brain, it's possible to run IP over a
FibreChannel interface.

  And if that didn't do it, you can run SCSI for a storage interconnect
AND IP on the SAME FibreChannel interface, at the same time.

  FibreChannel is a current high-end (primarily) storage interconnect
technology.  FDDI is a no-longer-current network interconnect technology.
