[rescue] interesting things to do with a modem

UUCP! Those were the days.  Your post just brought back a memory of debugging
a UUCP session with a new peer.  The problem ended up being the remote machine
couldn't handle our 8-character machine name - it wanted 7 characters or less.
Seems like a lifetime ago (Oh wait, since then I've had kids and grandkids, so
I guess that's 2 lifetimes ago)

I seem to recall some discussion on the HECnet list about a UUCP variant
(UUhecnet?) - not sure if it's still running.
