Texas is a great place to be.  There was never really a housing bubble so there 
was no housing bubble to break in 2008.

In short, plenty of jobs here when compared to the rest of the country.

Apple has been building up in the Austin area for some time.

Many of the firearm manufacturers pushed out of the east moved to Texas.

Toyota is consolidating its US headquarters by pulling out of Kentucky and 
California.
