Has anybody tried getting the part numbers off the back of the
fan and looking them up on Mouser or Digi-key?

If you know the voltage for maximum RPM, and the quantity of
air they're supposed to move, and the physical dimensions one
can usually do pretty well that way. Bear in mind the tach type,
too; some only have lockup-detection where others can measure
the actual RPM (reasonably well) -- and the really old-school
stuff has neither (lockup being detected by a smell or a thermal
shutdown).

    Cheers!
