[rescue] Help with SunFire V240 Server

Since I won't get a chance to work on the server again for a few days, I
decided to simply buy the proper Sun DVD drive for this specific server off
eBay for a penny less than $20, shipped, with a 14 day DOA guarantee.

I could run around cannibalizing my various machines until I find one that
works, or set up a Solaris x86 VM to netboot, but for $20 I decided it would
be nice to have an actual drive.

I downloaded Solaris 10 from Oracle, as well as Ubuntu 10.4 and SXCE (or
whatever it is called) and burned DVDs. I think I'd prefer Solaris 10, are
there any barriers to running it on this hardware, either security-wise
(license key needed) or license-wise (supposed to have a license, but it is
effectively an honor system)?

I was most likely wrong about the drives being SAS, I just assumed and hadn't
checked.

As a side question, what are people using to get a graphical Solaris desktop
on a windows client? On a Mac?
