It should "just work" without installing any special drivers. Is your
machine seeing the FC card ok?
You should see something like this in dmesg:
[1224872.272299] qla2xxx 0000:02:08.0: LOOP UP detected (2 Gbps).
[1224873.049784] scsi 14:0:0:0: Sequential-Access IBM ULTRIUM-TD2
8571
PQ: 0 ANSI: 3
[1224873.055516] scsi 14:0:1:0: Sequential-Access IBM ULTRIUM-TD2
8571
PQ: 0 ANSI: 3
[1224873.061107] st 14:0:0:0: Attached scsi tape st0
[1224873.061237] st 14:0:0:0: st0: try direct i/o: yes (alignment 4 B)
[1224873.061441] st 14:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 1
[1224873.061919] st 14:0:1:0: Attached scsi tape st1
[1224873.062048] st 14:0:1:0: st1: try direct i/o: yes (alignment 4 B)
[1224873.062244] st 14:0:1:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 1
Do you see anything like that? The first couple lines indicate that you
can talk to the drive over the fc loop, the "st0" and "st1" lines will
show up if the st driver is loaded properly.
If you don't see something like the first few lines, then your machine
isn't seeing the tape drive over the fiberchannel connection.
