No.  First, Flame isn't available for OSX.  Smoke is available on OSX. 
Smoke still can do special tricks when paired with Nvidia cards that 
aren't supported on OSX.  Flame can do even more special tricks when 
paired with dedicated (but still mostly off the shelf) hardware.

Second, if you look outside of Smoke and Flame, there aren't many 
programs that work quite as quickly for what they do.

However, I believe at this point Smoke and Flame on Linux are faster 
than they ever where on Irix in every way.
