[rescue] HP-UX 9.05 and IPL error, help?

I'm trying to install the OS on a replacement hard drive in an HP 9000
715/75.

I've hung a Seagate ST32430N off the external bus and ran through the OS
installer. The installation completes, reboots, and when it tries to
boot to the hard drive gives me the message:

IPL Error: Bad IPL address.

and either stops there or falls back to booting the install media (if I
left it inserted in the magneto-optical drive)

The drive I'm replacing is an ST11200N that's decided to do all sorts of
bad things to itself.

I had successfully used this install media to reinstall the OS onto the
11200 before I realized that it was all sorts of bad. I've also tried
three of 32430s, all of which exhibit the same issue on reboot.

I don't have much experience troubleshooting HP machines. I'm thinking
maybe there's something about the disktab entry for these disks that's
causing the bootloader to be stored at the wrong place on the disk?

This machine was originally purchased as a PCB CAD station, so the
install media has HP-UX on one side of the disk and the CAD software on
the other.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
