Funnily enough, that's almost exactly the purpose of mine had.  I've had
in the kitchen, but not so much for recipes, but as to be able to surf.
It's really too slow a beast for this and has too small a screen
resolution to be useful for surfing, but certainly, it's fine for
reading emails, or keeping recipes.
Still, it's a bit of a collectible, and a kitchen isn't necessarily a
good place for it.

I eventually replaced it with an old winbook XL which is a bit slow at
650MHz, and has a dead battery, but is perfect for surfing.  xubuntu
runs just fine on that little beastie.
The Voyager is now in the museum. :-)
